The St. Teresa Bulldogs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Highland, falling 60-27. While losing is never fun, St. Teresa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Highland is ranked 72nd).
Despite the loss, St. Teresa still got an impressive performance from Jaccarion Jones, who rushed for 226 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
St. Teresa's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Lena-Winslow (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.4% over those games). As for Highland, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
St. Teresa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Highland will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Mt. Vernon at 1:00 p.m.
