Oconee County (6 - 2) and Madison County (6 - 2) go head to head this Friday at 7:30 PM. Oconee County dropped a decent lead last game -- we'll see if that pushes the squad to a win or puts them in a funk.
Last week, Oconee County took on Stephens County. Oconee County's defense put the team in a good position heading into the break, holding Stephens County to a measly zero points. That gave them a 9 - 0 advantage at the half. Unfortunately, the defense lost its edge in the second half, allowing 16 points. Faltering after the half, Oconee County coughed its lead and lost 16 - 9.
Meanwhile, Madison County claimed a 26 - 14 victory over North Oconee last week. No one had a larger role in the success than senior quarterback David Metts, who brought his A game into the contest. He ran for 119 yards and punched in two touchdowns.
Madison County is looking to hand Oconee County its first back-to-back losses of the season. We'll find out if Oconee County can avoid giving it that satisfaction.
