The Pinole Valley Spartans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They skirted past De Anza 69-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Pinole Valley was led to victory by Romyn Waugh and Chriseanie Nealy. Waugh dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Nealy scored 31 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nnamdi Osajindu, who scored four points.
Several Dons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malakai Wise, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wise has scored all season. Ahmari Otis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Pinole Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for De Anza, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Pinole Valley will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint Mary's is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for De Anza, they will take on the Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Salesian College Preparatory's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 22 matches.
