New Albany extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 3-12. They fell 8-5 to the Lincoln Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-7 two weeks ago.
Zoe Oakleaf made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Madi Muzi was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Lincoln, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.
On Lincoln's side, Ella Carlson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kira Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Evans, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. New Albany is set to face off against their familiar foe Central Crossing at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lincoln will take on rival Westerville Central at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
