On Thursday, Cornerstone Charter Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over Lake Wales.
Leading Cornerstone Charter Academy to victory were Derick Augustin and Jeremiah Wade. Augustin scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Wade scored 17 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wade has scored at least 25% of Cornerstone Charter Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Antonio Robinson, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Lake Wales still got an impressive performance from Gary Love, who scored 20 points. Love continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Legrand, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Lake Wales, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
