Burke is 9-1 against Omaha Northwest since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Burke needed a bit of extra time to put away Lincoln Northwest. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 24, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Alec Carlson, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brady Stanley, who scored a run and stole a base.
Meanwhile, Omaha Northwest can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against Benson as they made off with a 15-5 win.
Justyse Masters made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Masters was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Omaha Northwest is 2-1 when Masters posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Daniel Wescott and DeVon Derry did most of the damage at the plate: Wescott scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Derry went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Braden Sanders was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Omaha Northwest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benson struck out 11 times.
The victory made it two in a row for Burke and bumps their season record up to 3-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Omaha Northwest, their record is now 2-7.
