Victory Christian Academy had won two straight home games and Gavin Whitaker did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Lions secured a 68-64 W over the Heritage Christian Defenders with plenty of help from Whitaker, who almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine rebounds. The game was his 16th in a row with at least 19 points.

Shane Hattabaugh was another key player, putting up two points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 50% shooting accuracy.

Heritage Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Regnerus, who shot 59% from the field to rack up 26 points and six rebounds. That was a full 40.6% of the Defenders' points, marking the third time in a row Regnerus has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Regnerus, who went 9-for-12 en route to 20 points and five boards.

Victory Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Heritage Christian, their record is now 1-3.

Coming up, Victory Christian Academy will square off against Calumet Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian has already played their next contest (against HomeSchool Resource Center), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
