After two games on the road, Justin-Siena is heading back home. They will take on the Petaluma Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Justin-Siena beat Sonoma Valley 35-31. Given Justin-Siena's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Sonoma Valley is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan Washington was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naveena Jackson, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Even though Petaluma has not done well against American Canyon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Petaluma sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 victory over American Canyon. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Petaluma has posted yet this season.
Justin-Siena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Petaluma, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Justin-Siena was able to grind out a solid win over Petaluma in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 42-32. Does Justin-Siena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Petaluma turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
