The Arvada West Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Vista PEAK Prep Bison at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Arvada West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Arvada West's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Brooks with a sharp 12-0 win. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly 12 runs.
The team relied heavily on Cooper Vais, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Lueck, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Arvada West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Vista PEAK Prep posted their closest victory since April 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Skyview 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won six in a row.
Eli Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Vista PEAK Prep is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Ezra Wise was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Eric Houser also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
The victory got Vista PEAK Prep back to even at 4-4. As for Arvada West, their record is now 4-1-1.
Vista PEAK Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arvada West has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Vista PEAK Prep, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Arvada West's hitters?
