After flying high against the Hanceville Bulldogs on Tuesday, the Vinemont Eagles came back down to earth. Vinemont's rough 75-54 loss to Susan Moore on Friday might stick with them for a while. Vinemont has not had much luck with Susan Moore recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Vinemont saw an underclassman step up: Reagan Robinson scored 11 points along with 8 steals and 5 assists. Robinson hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Flanagan, who scored 9 points.
Even though they lost, Vinemont were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Susan Moore only racked up 22.
Susan Moore's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lani Smallwood, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Smallwood's third in a row with at least ten points. Mallorie Holland was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Vinemont's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Susan Moore, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vinemont will take on Fairview at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Susan Moore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pennington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pennington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Susan Moore is ranked 19th).
