The Northside - Pinetown Panthers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Lejeune by a score of 78-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Griffin Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malachi Moore, who scored 17 points.
Lejeune's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Connor Shea, who scored 30 points along with two steals, and Trevor Highsmith who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shea has scored all season. James Rod was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Northside - Pinetown's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Lejeune, they bumped their record down to 6-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Carteret the next time they take the court. Lejeune will head out to face East Carteret at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Northside - Pinetown will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
