Albuquerque is 0-9 against Eldorado since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.
Albuquerque came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-1 to Rio Grande.
Albuquerque saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jude Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eldorado had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. Everything went their way against the Knights as they made off with a 26-3 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Kaidan Krenik made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Krenik was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maddox Gonzales was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Bond, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Eldorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Eldorado's record is now 14-2. As for Albuquerque, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Albuquerque hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Eldorado struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Albuquerque suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Eldorado in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
