The Ligonier Valley Rams will face off against the Derry Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ligonier Valley lost a heartbreaker the last time they played McGuffey, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Rams blew past the Highlanders 13-4 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Austin Harr made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Harr was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Levi Moser was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Ligonier Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McGuffey only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Derry ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Forest Hills by a score of 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Like Ligonier Valley, Derry also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Petrosky. Throwing, Petrosky tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Cason Long didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Petrosky has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. At bat, Petrosky went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Long went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Mayson Perla was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
The win got Ligonier Valley back to even at 1-1. As for Derry, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
