The Bishop's Knights just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Bishop's is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
Bishop's stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 64-23 win over Valley Center. Given Bishop's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Valley Center is ranked 902nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop's found their leader in underclassman Ayla Johnson, who scored 24 points. Moana Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy beat Valhalla 53-41 on Saturday. The win was just what St. Joseph Academy needed coming off of a 75-42 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Luciana Aguilar, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nancy Chavez, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Bishop's has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Bishop's have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for St. Joseph Academy, though, as they've only nailed 35% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bishop's took a serious blow against St. Joseph Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 64-20. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bishop's was down 31-8.
