Archbishop Hannan (Covington, La.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 16 points, drop to two before the final whistle blew on a 22-20 victory over
Pope John Paul II (Slidell, La.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Korey Zeigler in the first quarter, the Hawks were up 15-6 at the half.
Archbishop Hannan expanded its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. AH's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by Zeigler to
Jason Brooks.
With the win the Covington school extended its winning streak to five games. Archbishop Hannan defeated Pine 49-26 last week.
The loss was the third in a row for the Jaguars.
