Fort Bend Travis posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 73-23 victory over Fort Bend Clements. Given Fort Bend Travis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Fort Bend Clements is ranked 1156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Austin put the finishing touches on their 21st blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Fort Bend Clements, posting a 64-27 victory on the road.
Fort Bend Austin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Andrea Sturdivant, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds, and Anumele, who scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Sturdivant has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Pfeiffer Greene was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals and two blocks.
Fort Bend Travis' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-16. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Fort Bend Austin, their win bumped their record up to 27-1.
Fort Bend Travis was dealt a bruising 60-19 defeat at the hands of Fort Bend Austin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Anumele, who scored 34 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
