There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Venice's senior Carpenter, who scored six touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Welcome
Lake Gibson brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (seven points) in the match before. It put the hurt on Auburndale with a conclusive 35 - 0 victory. The Auburndale defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 28 points per game), and Lake Gibson took advantage of that. Thanks to its success, Lake Gibson cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 15th spot.
Upcoming Drama
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Durant (16th in the power rankings) and Tampa Bay Tech (6th). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. With each team boasting a good deal of offensive firepower (Tampa Bay Tech has four high-flying games in a row, Durant three), it will be interesting to see who can run the score up higher.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Clearwater Central Catholic (50th in the state) and Calvary Christian (154th). Clearwater Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Calvary Christian, winning 23 - 14. As a result, Clearwater Central Catholic rose two spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Durant and Plant City last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 96 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Durant claimed a 55 - 41 victory over Plant City. Durant saw its record improve to 7-1 and its power rank jump 13 places as a result.
