On Friday, Yorktown had a bit more than a touchdown to spare in a 34-20 victory over Flatonia.
The match started off well for Yorktown, whose offense put up 21 first-half points. Flatonia countered with 14 points, leaving the score at 21-14 going into the half. The other side of the ball was dominant for Yorktown in the second half, holding Flatonia to a measly 6 points.
Yorktown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of junior Josh Garcia, who picked up 71 yards on the ground and accumulated 130 passing yards, and junior Zackary Latta, who rushed for 129 yards and 1 touchdown. Junior Corey Pargmann also helped out with an impressive 123 receiving yards in the win. The victory bumped Yorktown's record up to 5-0. The defeat dropped Flatonia's record to 3-2.
Next week Yorktown take on St. Joseph at 7:30 PM. These teams both seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins. As for Flatonia, they will face off against Weimar.
