Basketball Recap: Hayfork Piles Up the Points Against Los Molinos

Hayfork lost to Los Molinos back in January of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Hayfork Timberjacks blew past the Los Molinos Bulldogs, posting an 82-36 win. The Timberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season.

Levi Cavalli was his usual excellent self, putting up 29 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. That's the most assists he has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Devin Nanez, who posted 16 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Hayfork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Hayfork is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Los Molinos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Hayfork and Happy Camp will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Happy Camp will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Hayfork surely won't give up without a fight. As for Los Molinos, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Willows at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Los Molinos is facing Willows at the right time seeing as Willows is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
