It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Langston Hughes ultimately got the result they hoped for two weeks ago. They pulled ahead with a 60-59 photo finish over South Paulding. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Langston Hughes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Catholic, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Catholic's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Schaeffer, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Fayette County's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Jasper by a score of 47-44.
Langston Hughes pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Fayette County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
