They came out on top against Esperanza by a score of 66-58. Given Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Esperanza is ranked 756th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canyon was led to victory by Staf Yilmazturk and Noah Kim. Yilmazturk dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Kim scored 20 points. Yilmazturk continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Josh Goodall was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Esperanza, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-14.
