The Silver Creek Raiders will face off against the Prospect Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Silver Creek's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Evergreen Valley as they made off with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Evangelina Cuevas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Cuevas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malerie Ramirez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Emma Tang, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
Silver Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Prospect came out on top against Leland on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Panthers walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Chargers. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Like Silver Creek, Prospect also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendall Tabora. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Tabora has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Bella Beltran was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaylin Perl was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Silver Creek's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Prospect, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Silver Creek beat Prospect 12-9 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
