Sacramento had to hit the road for their first game, and unfortunately the road hit them back. On Friday, they were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 12-16 to Rancho Cotate.
No one had a larger role in the success than junior Rasheed Rankin, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 135 yards and 1 touchdown. This was the first contest for both squads, starting Sacramento off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving Rancho Cotate a 1-0 record.
Next week, Sacramento take on Chico at 7:30 PM. As for Rancho Cotate, they will face of against Vanden.
