Springfield Township is 0-6 against Plymouth Whitemarsh since November of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Spartans will host the Colonials at 7:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Zymir Small and Michael Giangiulio.
Springfield Township is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Hatboro-Horsham on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Spartans lost 34-14 to the Hatters. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Nathan Torrealba put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 170 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 60 yards.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Plymouth Whitemarsh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 33-27 victory over Wissahickon. Winning may never get old, but the Colonials sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Springfield Township better keep an eye on Cole Reilly. He was instrumental in Plymouth Whitemarsh's win, rushing for 136 yards and two scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Reilly's passing game has become a key predictor of the Colonials' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Amir Butler was in the mix as well, providing Plymouth Whitemarsh with one touchdown.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Springfield Township has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Plymouth Whitemarsh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 254.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Springfield Township was taken down by Plymouth Whitemarsh 42-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Spartans, Caiden Leszczynski (who threw for 154 yards and four TDs on only 12 passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
