Torin Wolf and Killian Paschall were among the main playmakers for Minarets as the former rushed for 62 yards and a pair of scores and the latter gained 137 total yards. That's the most rushing yards Wolf has posted since back in August. Minarets also got help from Andrew Mellon, who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Minarets proved: they limited Yosemite to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. The Mustangs didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.
Minarets didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of David Aceves and Jeremiah Sifuentes.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sierra). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Priory last Saturday, sneaking past 29-26. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Chieftains with their most commanding win of the season.
A big part of Sierra's win came down to the chemistry between Wyatt Young and his top target Jack Biglay. Young threw for 176 yards and three TDs while Biglay picked up 118 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Young's passing game has become a key predictor of Sierra's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-6 otherwise.
Minarets' record now sits at 9-1. As for Sierra, their record is now 3-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Minarets has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 365.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Sierra, though, as they've been averaging only 243.2 total yards. Will Minarets be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Chieftains flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Minarets against Sierra when the teams last played back in August, as the team secured a 60-6 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chieftains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
