The Pacifica Tritons will head out on the road to challenge the Ventura Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Pacifica needed a bit of extra time to put away Camarillo. They skirted past the Scorpions 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tritons have posted since March 10th.
The team relied heavily on Dario Navarro, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Riley Ortega, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pacifica kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Ventura hadn't done well against Moorpark recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cougars came out on top against the Musketeers by a score of 5-2.
Ventura also got a great performance from Brandon Hardy as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Trevor Woodworth was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Ventura: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-14 otherwise. Anden Aguailar also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Pacifica is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ventura, their record now sits at 5-14.
Pacifica skirted past Ventura 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Tritons repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
