Basketball Recap: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Piles Up the Points Against Green Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Academy East Las Vegas). They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 84-16 win over the Green Valley Gators. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-11.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Academy East Las Vegas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amija Macon, who shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 11 assists, and ten steals. Macon has been hot recently, having posted 22 or more points the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of London Scott, who went 13 of 14 on her way to 27 points.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sheyane Saunders Harris, who posted four points.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 55.5 points. As for Green Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pinecrest Academy Cadence has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Green Valley, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Sierra Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
