Flagler is 0-3 against Genoa-Hugo/Karval since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Flagler Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates at 4:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Flagler is ranked 106th, while Genoa-Hugo/Karval is ranked 94th).
Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Flagler at home against Miami-Yoder as the squad secured a 52-25 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Flagler.
Jaylie Stone had an outrageously good game as she scored 25 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Flagler's points. Another player making a difference was Belle Schier, who scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds and 5 steals.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Genoa-Hugo/Karval proved on Thursday. They managed a 42-37 win over Arickaree.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Genoa-Hugo/Karval to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amy James, who scored 11 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which James has scored at least 25% of Genoa-Hugo/Karval's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Corn, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Flagler's victory pushed their record up to 2-1, while Miami-Yoder's loss dropped theirs down to 1-2.
Flagler couldn't quite finish off Genoa-Hugo/Karval in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 36-33. Can Flagler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
