The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cardinal Newman, who took down 133rd ranked Cardinal Newman, 39-28.
Hammond was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Heathwood Hall Episcopal. The Skyhawks came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
Zakki Parker was the most productive running back in SCISA AAA this week. In 38 carries, he ran for 266 yards as the Cardinals fell to Ben Lippen. Teammate Dubois added to the ground attack by rushing for 16 yards.
Dubois was the best wideout in the league this week as Cardinal Newman lost to the Falcons. Dubois racked up five receptions for 94 yards. Austin Ajukwa helped Cardinal Newman's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Kody Watson and Parker Brannon Tidwell's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Watson leads the league in passing with 2119 yards, while Parker has rushed for 1034 yards this season. Augusta Christian's Nick Fortenberry leads the league in receiving yards with 830 on 39 catches.
Thomas Banks of the the Lions is only 53 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Banks has rushed for 947 yards on 115 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Augusta Christian takes on Cardinal Newman. As it stands, Keith Walton's team is in first, while the Cardinals are in seventh.
The Lions extended the longest winning streak in SCISA AAA this week by beating Orangeburg Prep, 42-20. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
