It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cushing had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 63-34 victory over the Hilldale Hornets. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Cushing's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Roman Tucker led the charge by throwing for 290 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 52 yards and a pair of scores. Tucker has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Bryce Ward did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 92 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cushing was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Cushing didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lane Simpson and Jordan Kersey. Another thorn in Hilldale's side was Jake Martin, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
When it comes to explaining why Hilldale lost, don't look at Brady Scott. Despite the final result, he rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Scott's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Dawson Fields was in the mix too, providing Hilldale with two scores.
The win was the ninth in a row for Cushing, bringing their record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points over those games. As for Hilldale, they moved to 5-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Cushing will be playing in front of their home fans against Ardmore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hilldale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
