Baseball Recap: Raleigh Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Raleigh, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Forest Bearcats 5-3. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ryder Ivy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Raleigh's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

Raleigh's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Forest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raleigh will welcome Discovery Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Forest, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Forest Bearcats take on Quitman Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. They are facing Quitman at the right time seeing as Quitman is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
