The Slaughter Community Charter Knights will head out to square off against the Loranger Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Slaughter Community Charter has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Slaughter Community Charter is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against St. Michael on Thursday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 18-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Slaughter Community Charter saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Brister, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Sarahlyn Brazzel also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Loranger made easy work of Ascension Christian on Friday and carried off a 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Koda Mathews made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Loranger let Daryck Deville and Daisy Rodriguez run wild. Deville got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Deville is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Gonzales, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Loranger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Slaughter Community Charter's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Loranger, their record is now 11-9-1.
Slaughter Community Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Loranger in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
