The Kearney Catholic Stars lost against the McCook Bison back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Kearney Catholic fell just short of McCook by a score of 47-44.
Kearney Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Murphy, who scored 13 points. Brant Christner was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Kearney Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for McCook, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kearney Catholic will be home for the holidays to greet Boone Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Boone Central is ranked 69th, while Kearney Catholic is ranked 94th). McCook won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holdrege at 6:45 p.m. on December 16th. Holdrege is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
