The Glendora Tartans will be playing at home against the Bonita Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Glendora gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Colony on the road to the tune of 79-23. With Glendora ahead 54-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Glendora relied on the efforts of Brianna Gomez, who scored 26 points along with six steals, and Rylie Anderson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ronnie Herrmann was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Bonita was able to grind out a solid victory over Claremont on Friday, taking the game 39-26.
Among those leading the charge was Naomi Acuna, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Lexi Mercado, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Glendora's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.11 points. As for Bonita, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Glendora have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.5 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Bonita, though, as they've been averaging only 29.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Glendora came up short against Bonita when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 46-40. Can Glendora avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
