It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Lake Central Indians ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Indian Creek with a 51-45 victory. The success was a return to things as normal for Lake Central, who in their previous outing suffered a shocking 60-22 upset defeat to Jennings County.
Vanessa Wimberly was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Lake Central's points. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Bishop, who scored 11 points.
Defeat or not, Indian Creek got some senior leadership from Faith Wiseman who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds and Lauren Foster who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The matchup was Wiseman's 17th in a row with at least ten points.
Lake Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Indian Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-4.
Lake Central will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. Kankakee Valley is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Indian Creek, they will take on Brown County at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Brown County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Indian Creek is ranked 67th).
