It's playoff time, and State College had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the McDowell Trojans 41-7 on Friday. Considering the Little Lions have won seven games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
State College got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was D'Antae Sheffey out in front who rushed for 103 yards and one TD, and also picked up 63 receiving yards and one score. Sheffey has become a key player for the Little Lions: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Connor Kulka was another key passer, throwing for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes.
State College didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Keen Furmanek, Rowan Walker, Anderson Aj Fry, and Hank Lustig picked up one apiece.
State College has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.3 points on average over those games. As for McDowell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Looking ahead, State College will face off against Wilkes-Barre at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. McDowell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
