The Boerne Greyhounds are taking a road trip to take on the Harlandale Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boerne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Harlandale likes a good challenge.
Boerne proved they can win big back in September (they won by 36) and last Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Alamo Heights 37-35.
Boerne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Sweeney, who threw for 308 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 48 yards. Eli Nikolas was another key receiver, picking up 147 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Boerne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as CJ Smith, Jake Perez, and Bobby Wilkinson picked up one apiece. Wilkinson has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Harlandale came up short against Alamo Heights on Friday, falling 42-20. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 739th, while the Mules are ranked 161st).
Boerne will need to focus on slowing down Braylon Tovar, one of several Harlandale players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 31 yards and one score, and also picked up 38 receiving yards.
Boerne's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Harlandale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Boerne has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 283.4 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Harlandale, though, as they've been averaging only 138 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Boerne took their win against Harlandale when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 49-23 score. In that contest, the Greyhounds amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
