Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (61), Moffat County still had to take the loss.
Loss or not, Moffat County got some senior leadership from Ian Champ hafey and Bryant Carlson. Champ hafey dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Carlson. scored 18 points along with five assists and five steals. Carlson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jr Welch, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Moffat County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delta only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Tucker Johnson, who scored 22 points along with two steals for Delta. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Joe Black was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and four steals.
Moffat County has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Delta, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Moffat County and Steamboat Springs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
