The Temple Christian Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Faith Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (56), Temple Christian still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Temple Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Silas Walker. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Walker scored a full 30.9% of Temple Christian's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Cash, who scored 15 points.
Faith Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Ridge, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Landon Newton was another key contributor, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds.
Temple Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Faith Christian, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Temple Christian will take on Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Faith Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Roanoke Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. Roanoke Valley Christian will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
