The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully L.E.A.D. Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
L.E.A.D. Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Laurel Hill by a score of 35-24.
L.E.A.D. Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emily Harold, who scored 12 points along with 9 steals and 5 rebounds. Sophia Harold was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 9 steals and 5 assists.
Meanwhile, Pensacola Catholic pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The contest between Pensacola Catholic and Freeport wasn't particularly close, with Pensacola Catholic falling 73-55.
Despite the loss, Pensacola Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Jenecia Swindell scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Burns, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
L.E.A.D. Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pensacola Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
