The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hawkinsville came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Telfair County is ranked 476th).
Hawkinsville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nelson Singletary, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Singletary hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Darius Anderson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds.
Hawkinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Telfair County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hawkinsville will take on Treutlen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Treutlen has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,100 points over their last 15 matches. As for Telfair County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bleckley County and Telfair County are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
