Basketball Recap: Kaufer Takes a Loss

If Kaufer was feeling good fresh off their 69-4 takedown of Idea Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Seahawks were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 41-40 to the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fightin' Jerseys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-30 last Tuesday.

Kaufer's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of JAYMIE TEN-CATE, who went 9-for-14 en route to 25 points and five boards, and ELIANA ABRIGO, who posted five points along with 18 rebounds and three blocks. ABRIGO is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Kaufer's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Falfurrias, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Kaufer will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Agua Dulce at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th. The game will give the Seahawks their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Falfurrias, they will head out on the road to face off against Banquete at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. This will also be the Fightin' Jerseys' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
