There's no place like home for the New Bern Bears, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 72-59 victory over West Carteret on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Zymari Buck continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of New Bern's points. Alex Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
New Bern now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Carteret, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Bern will take on Ashley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday. As for West Carteret, they will be playing at home against Kinston at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Kinston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully West Carteret likes a good challenge.
