The Mount Tabor Spartans will take on the North Davidson Black Knights at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Tabor will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Monday, Mount Tabor got the win against North Forsyth by a conclusive 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-10.
Mount Tabor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Player #14 led the charge by getting six aces. Another player making a difference was Tania Aguilera, who had nine digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Mount Tabor was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, North Davidson's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Grove.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Oak Grove scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-21, 24-26, 25-20.
Mount Tabor will have to contain Riley Prevette as she made an impact in North Davidson's last game. She had three digs and three aces. Gentry Grae Smith also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.
North Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Mount Tabor, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Mount Tabor hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4 blocks per game. It's a different story for North Davidson, though, as they've been averaging only 1.5 blocks. Given Mount Tabor's sizable advantage in that area, the Black Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mount Tabor might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from North Davidson when the teams last played back in September. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
