Monroe is a perfect 7-0 against Vaughn since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the White Tigers at 2:30 p.m. Monroe is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, Monroe got the win against Van Nuys by a conclusive 14-2. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.
Luis Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Monroe got a massive performance out of Felipe Gonzalez III, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Jeramiah Vicuna was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Vaughn made easy work of Grant on Friday and carried off an 11-1 win. The White Tigers haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Bryant Gamez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits.
Monroe's record now sits at 11-0. As for Vaughn, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Everything went Monroe's way against Vaughn in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Monroe made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
