4A Region II District 15 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mansfield Summit, who took down 333rd ranked Mansfield Legacy, 43-37. Antonio Bennett threw for 192 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 28 yards in the win.
Lancaster was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Ennis. The Tigers came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
Kijana Amous was the best wideout in 4A Region II District 15 this week as the Broncos fell to the Jaguars. Amous tallied three receptions for 95 yards.
Daymon Smith was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 113 yards on 21 carries as Mansfield Summit lost to Mansfield Summit.
The Jaguars' Bennett and Patrick Tshituka have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bennett has thrown for 1836 yards this season, while Tshituka has 36 catches for 679 yards. Red Oak's Cameron Bausley leads the league in rushing yards with 1161.
Two of the top units in 4A Region II District 15 will face off this week when Mansfield Summit takes on Lancaster. The Jaguars' offense has recorded 321 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Chris Gilbert's team has permitted only 119 on the year.
Entering into this week's contest against the Tigers, Bennett is short just 164 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Lions take on Waxahachie. Ennis is currently in first, while the Indians are in fourth.
The Jaguars moved up to 327 from 369 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Mansfield Summit was able to make move up by defeating the Broncos 43-37.
