Northwest had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Gross Catholic on Thursday. The Vikings blew past the Cougars 3-0. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

While Northwest won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 29-27.

Ava Janulewicz paced Northwest's offense, picking up 18 kills. Janulewicz got some help from Kenna Bowman and her 41 assists. Elli Payne controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Gross Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Justina Cronin, who had 12 digs and five assists, and Kristen Frankman, who had seven digs.

Northwest's win bumped their record up to 23-10. As for Gross Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-14 record this season.

Northwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Waverly on the 1st. Gross Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
