Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Mercyhurst Prep recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Lakers at 4:30 p.m.
Iroquois hit Eisenhower with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell 5-1 to the Braves. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, Mercyhurst Prep entered their tilt with DuBois Central Catholic on Thursday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Cardinals. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Hunter Krahe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Mercyhurst Prep let Zack Kruszewski and Noah Reigel run wild. Kruszewski went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Reigel went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Reigel continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Mike Schloss was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mercyhurst Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Mercyhurst Prep's record is now 11-2. As for Eisenhower, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Eisenhower might still be hurting after the 19-3 loss they got from Mercyhurst Prep in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
