After a string of nine wins dating back to last season, the Yuma Criminals's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moon Valley. Yuma has not had much luck with Moon Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Yuma lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nick Amador, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. Amador has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Andrew Mosqueda was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Damion Miller-Coleman was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with nine rebounds and six assists for Moon Valley. That's the first time this season that Miller-Coleman pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Boone, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Yuma's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Moon Valley, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma will face off against Greenway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenway comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Moon Valley, Moon Valley and Thunderbird will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thunderbird will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
