Catholic has gone a perfect 5-0 against Liberty Magnet recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bears will welcome the Patriots at 11:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Catholic has three straight wins, Liberty Magnet has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Catholic got the win against St. Augustine by a conclusive 10-2. Considering the Bears have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Catholic got a great performance from Mills Richardson as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Richardson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Stokes, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dekohta Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Liberty Magnet's offense. They came up short against Lutcher on Friday, falling 12-0.
Liberty Magnet's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Liberty Magnet struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Catholic's way against Liberty Magnet in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Catholic made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
